Laptop ethernet port is fried. Please help out.?

During a recent lightning storm, the ethernet port of my laptop get fried. I have wireless nouns so connecting to the internet is not a problem, but every time my computer starts up it shows me an error message as the computer tries to use the ethernet port. I usually have to restart my computer a couple of times to procure started. Is there something that I can do to turn the adjectives ethernet port permanently sour so that my computer regains right mind. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks contained by advance.

(On a side register: I did not realize that the ethernet cable is also suceptible to lightning surges. From now on I will buy surge protectors that also hold an ethernet jack. I strongly recommend that to everyone).

Answers:
removing it, not without totally wrecking the laptop.. disabling it (which should solve your rebooting issues) otherwise is very doable

right click on my computer and click on properties..

click on the hardware tab, consequently device manager..

double click on the lattice adapters (or click on the plus sign next to it), right click the non wireless one, click on disable..

close out of everything (you might have need of to reboot) and you should be all set
Try going to control panel->system->Hardware tab and unstop up device manager. Find your ethernet card contained by the list and right click and disable it. (should be lower than network adapters)

This is for window xp sp2
Right click My Computer - left click Properties - click the Hardware tab - click Device Manager. Find your Ethernet card - right click on it and disable it.
OK, surrounded by response to your question:

1. I use ethernet protection, and I finally know (because of you) that it's not BS.
2. You can't remove any ports from a laptop efficiently. You can take it down to a professional repair shop, and they can look to see the extent of the smash up. That way, you don't risk adjectives anything extra or leaving unnecessary parts of your Ethernet port connected.
3. On the other paw, I don't think that you can even do #2. The computer is wired adjectives together, not sector by sector. If it's just an inconvenience, I suggest you sign out it alone as removing/moving something might make it worse.
4. Hence, you can newly go to the control panel and disable the Ethernet. Do it contained by safe mode if you can't do it typically, and don't remove the part of the computer yourself.
hold you tried looking through bios to deactivate the ethernet port? look for a button to push to enter "setup" at startup and scroll around adjectives the options to see if you can find it

if that does not work, look through device representative in control panel>system and right click and look through properties to see if you can manually disable it through window

good luck
