Ebay would be your best bet, but i see you said no ebay. anyway, my Toshiba Satellite was smaller amount than $800 after taxes, and its from Wal-Mart.. All computers from wal-mart are refurbished, they just don't relay it, unless you ask. MIne is still working great, after 2 years of use!
Try Tigerdirect.They sell lots of refurbished.
