Installing operating system on laptop?
1.format the drive and divide it into tow parts.
2. copy the files of windows from the disc in the 2nd piece.
3. attach the HDD again to my laptop with the window files on it.
4. BOOT the windows files from the HDD.
5. install the operation system on the 1st element, after installation completed delete the operating system files from the 2nd of the HDD and use windows customarily.
What do you thing such an operation can be done in need consequences?
If it can be done i successfully i think its smart means of access how to avoid Booting from Floppy or CD-ROM, don't you think?

I doubt that it will work.
I know that if vote you intall Windows XP on a HDD in one computer, the HDD will not boot surrounded by another computer.

good concept.. it will work... i always used to preserve OS installation files as a back up and used to install by like peas in a pod method... through DOS.. cheers
I think the connectors used to connect the HD to your desktop won't mesh near the one used for the laptop.
how do u plan on connecting a laptop HD to a desk top , when the ide cable are diff rent ?
I think you're creating more work for yourself than you necessitate to be. If you're going to go through the trouble of taking the HD out and putting it into your desktop, afterwards why not just install Windows from in that, using the PC's CD-ROM drive?
