Using mature hardrive near my laptop?

I own an hardrive taken out from my old desktop, which I threw away years ago. Without buying a hot desktop, can i have access to the hardrive using my laptop immediately?

Do I need to purchase hardrive crate, or anything for this to work? Or all i can do is buy a tentative desktop?

Answer:
Depending upon the HD, enclosures/docks are available. It is totally possible to access the HD, as long as you do the research and find the right one. The HD goes into the dock which is connected to your laptop via USB or FireWire.
Good Luck
You can buy an IDE to USB adapter that will allow you to access the not easy drive from a laptop. Try www.newegg.com
Well if you are isng WinXp on your laptop then it is possible .Conect the HDD as an external drive...you might call for a box for protection)as you were describing that it is an loder hard drive i presume it would not be USB so achieve a parallel cable and once it is all set on the desjktop click on the restore your health option ..it would automatically copy the files and you can access them.

CHEERS!
Just gridiron the computers up
