Computer not recognize contemporary RAM.?

My HP a1620y computer have existing 1G RAM that is by Micron part of the pack #: PY106AA#ABA. I bought another 1G RAM from Kingston part #: KVR533D2N4/1G. Both are DDR2-533 PC2-4200 non-ECC. If they are within at the same time it solely reconizes 1 under system setup. I've tried them both individually and it recognize them in both slots so it isn't fruitless RAM. When I bought my computer it said it could support 2 gig. I'm running XP but I'm going to install my Windows Vista soon. Any thoughts on why this is going on and how to fix it?

Answer:
People think that I'm freshly bitc*ing but HP (invent) does not make moral PC's anymore. Ever since they were bought out by Compaq and next were sold to the Chinese they are simply junk. I individual say this because it is possible that the BIOS will not "see" 2 see. I doubt if it is the hardware or memory because you said the sticks work separately and in respectively slot. Try updating the BIOS to the latest and greatest. Check your owners guide, the 1 gig configuration may be pertinent to simply single sided RAM and your RAM may not be that type. Also see if the motherboard has a jersey that you have to set for different RAM configurations.

Good Luck
I would right to be heard it is a bad RAM slot on the motherboard. It your computer's still underneath warranty, get it fixed.
