Anti Static Wristband ???

Hi, it's my birthday tomorrow and i'm getting bump for my laptop (adding 512mb) and an anti-static wristband. BUT what should i connect it to, can i clip it on to my water pipes when cold ??

Answer:
the crust will be fine .... ive never used one and never had a problem ... basically touch the case and an outlet cover screw at like peas in a pod time and you'll be ok and hold components by the edges not the gold fingers .....
Just clip it to the metal contained by the case. Its used to variety your bodies voltage potential the same as the PCs ground.
Just connect it to the metal portion of your case. To put in the picture you the truth, I've been building computers for at least possible 8 years now and enjoy never use any anti-static wristband. If you are working in a carpeted nouns then freshly touch any metal part of your computer crust first before touching any components, this will relieve you release all the static electricity surrounded by your body.

Good Luck!
The case will be ok.

Anti-static wristbands are a item of the past.

As long as you use your manager and do not wear wool socks, sweater and do not work on shag carpeting, you should not have a problem.
You can any connect it to the table next to you or right onto the farthest point of the computer your working on.
Any metal object will do, the outside of the laptop case is usually the most convenient.

I prefer to self ground & find that the wrist strap get in the course. You might want to consider a antistatic mat.
Happy Birthday!

!Feliz Cumplea~nos!
