QWERTY Keys on my Laptop Keyboard are typing the wrong characters! How can i fix it? PLEASE HELP!?
For example when i press the "4" key, the correspondence "t4b" appear. Also some keys do not respond at "Q"; "W"; "E"; "R"; "U"; "I"; "O"; "P". Basically adjectives of the top line of junk mail do not work except T and Y.
Other keys produce 3 characters when i press them instead of 1.
It is a bit similar to predictive text messaging which i am not righteous at.
Please advise if this is due to dust below the keys, a virus, or if in that is a setting i could adjust to correct the problem.
Thanks heaps. I use Internet Explorer 6 and run windows XP. Cheers
Answer:
Please provide Laptop Model , manifacturer & OS details
Also please confirm if this happen prior to bootup as well or not.
Please check if you hold some shortcut keys within your laptop enabled
for e.g - Enabling numlock in some Thinkpad models cause alternate key responces (numbers instead of alphabets etc..)
This would be documented contained by the manual.
In travel case this is happening with the sole purpose after login (you can login fine but it breaks down after that - ) options are 1. Some setting
2 - Some virus or hurtful program.
In case like is happening everywhere i.e. formerly login - (Boot off a dos / Linux disk into certificate only mode and consequently try) you have a hardware issue - could be as innouculous as dust (or moisture ) beneath the keyboard, a shorted out (or loose) the ivories connector or a malfunctioning Keyboard controller on the Board all of these are best looked at by a repair / service shop.
touch the keylock key or the fn and keylock or numlock whichever knob your laptop has
