I can i explain to how heaps RPMs my frozen drive can do/is doing?

HP Pavillion dv1000 series laptop

Answer:
If the drive is the productive drive that came near it, you have 4200rpm drive.

Most laptops own the cheaper drives - unless they are newer performance models and/or specifically purchased beside a faster drive. :(

You can always remove the drive and carry the part number from it and google for specs. Sometimes the drive clearly say "4200RPM" on the label.
