You probably have a failing drive.
If you quality comfortable removing the drive, I would pull the drive, identify the factory owner and download the DFT (drive fitness test) from the mfr's site.
Reinstall the drive and run the DFT.
If the drive is a Toshiba, use seagate's DFT (Toshiba does not release their DFT to the public). If the DFT says "do you want me to fix the errors?" don't do it unless you hold a good backup of adjectives your data.
Based on the findings of the DFT, you can brand name a decision as to how-to-proceed. Laptop harddrives are cheap - if you replace your, look for a 5400rpm (or better on the other hand a 7200rpm) drive as it will improve drive related gig.

Sounds unpromising. Contact Dell. This douns dumb... But how about booting it up surrounded by safe mode?? To do this when you start up your computer and press the [F8] button a few times. =]
I would try over to Mr Dell if you are not confident roughly speaking a repair installation of Windows. The hard drive on my Dell 9100 have failed on these test about twenty times, and also on the cooling system. Re-formatting the hard-drive is just about your very best bet.
