I tried to install a 512 MB memory upgrade on my notebook but it doesnt boot up. Whats wrong?
Here are some specs for my notebook
memory 512 MB
memory speed PC2-4200
memory type DDR2 SDRAM
maximum memory upgrade 2.0 GB

The beeping noise are a POST warning that the BIOS isn't agreeing next to something it detects during boot-up. Sometimes, mismatching RAM manufacturers is a desperate thing. If it boots typically without the upgrade, the issue is openly the new RAM. If it won't boot even minus the new module installed and everything returned to pre-upgrade status, you may enjoy static fried something while working on it.
Memory not compatible with notebook.
Could be desperate RAM. Take it back and clutch your laptop with you. Then try any alien memory there. Hope that help.

It means that the mem edge of your systemboard IS NOT reading the new mem , ITS NOT THE MEM ITSELF , the systemboard is not reading it , in a minute try this , find the bios jumper and short it out so you can own a clean NO preconfigure so that instrument it will try to read it
sounds like bleak memory chip, try putting in the hoary see if it boots up..if it does return what you got and shift for another one.
youre trying to upgrade in a notebook 2 gigs? how hoary is the laptop.. the beeping is a polite thing.. do you hold 2x1 gig mem modules? try one of them.. itll prob boot next to one.. try each.. if it boots beside both than its capped at 1 gb max run into. if one works and the other doesnt.. well.. hm. you carry the point.
Replace your old strike &insert only topical ram and you can chk
