I simply got a unknown computer and wirless router. I can get online for a few minutes and consequently it kicks me past its sell-by date but if I unplug the router I can reconnect for a while longer. Any Ideas?? this is very frustrating

Routers are strange creatures. Mine cuts out sometimes. Vista, XP make no diffrence.
What you do have is ways to find out why, I se dial up at work, consequently Wireless at home, so my proxies get switched.
I would reset the modem, after the router. Let it do its thing, and use your tools t see what is going on.
If you grasp disconnected, well, perchance you need to find a better spot for the router.
