How do I verbs my files?
Answer:
Start-->Programs-->Accessories... Tools-->Files and Settings Transfer Wizard
Then choose to do a direct cable transfer if you enjoy one. Then if you have com1 ports and a cable you can hook it up to both computers and run the wizard.
If you don't, things can be a moment or two trickier. If you just want files, and hold a cd or dvd burner installed on the old computer, that would probably be the best causeway to go.
Otherwise, if you own a usb storage device(pen drive/jump drive, etc), you could just connect it to the aged computer and drag/drop files to it. Most need to hold software downloaded and installed to work on win98 machines, which you can find from the manufacturers websites. Also, it would come within handy if you ever need to pass files to a different computer that are to big to email.
Pick up a USB thumbdrive at Walmart - you can get 512M or 1G for beneath $30. You then a short time ago plug it into the USB drive of the old and copy adjectives your files to it, then move it to the fresh and unload them.
Alternatively you could pick up a USB data verbs cable which would connect the two and you could just copy them over, but when you're done you enjoy a cable with no other function. At lowest possible with the thumb drive you'll hold lots of other uses for it!
(I guess there is a specific judgment why you use floppies instead of CDs at least)
It will transfer adjectives files directly from one computer to another - of course you call for some connection between the two - a USB cable is your best choice - but old-school serial or parallel PC-to-PC connectors will work fine as all right I guess
XP has a tool for that - check surrounded by the start menu (it also pops up the in the "treatment screen")
1. Use a USB flash or pen drive or even some mp3 players will also hold files for transfering.
2. Burn the files to disk if you have a cdwriter
3. Email yourself files.
4. Use a USB cable to verbs the files.
you might try sending them through email to yourself. I don't know how well this will work but it don't hurt to try
It depends on the size of the files and the type of information. You are certainly right to ditch your Win 98 computer although you may be doing your friend no favours by transferring it to him! You can verbs data files such as Word and Excel documents but not the operating system files.
If your Win 98 have a USB port, you could get a flash drive which could hold up to 4 GB of information. Anything more than that then it would probably be better to verbs the files by physically linking the Win 98 to the laptop. You may need to win someone to help you do that!
