How heaps gb's contained by a thumb drive should i seize for my laptop?

If all you are going to be storing is word documents and powerpoint presentations, your wants would probably center around 1-2gb. 2gb would give you more than adequate room to fit all that you requirement (just in shield your powerpoints are monstrous in size due to imagery and such).
The prices of thumb drives are dropping all the time so you can pick up a great 2gb thumbdrive surrounded by the $20 or so price range immediately.
I've not hit 50% of my 1Gb stick yet... so I'd right to be heard go for a 2-4Gb one... whichever is cheaper-per-Gb

The small half see drives work for most people, but it looks resembling some of your stuff may be graphics-intense and need more space. So be in motion with 1GB for short-term travel needs, or 2GB or more if you are going to trade name it your main storage device.
Get a 4gb or 8gb. My 512mb won't even hold a CDs worth and I'm other having to verbs stuff off to sort room for other stuff.
Always better to get double what you reckon you need.
For handling a few presentations, I've found that my 16MB (0.016GB) stick is fine. If I be buying a new one, I'd probably catch about partly a gig (since the price of tiny ones is a _lot_ superior per byte).
1 to 2 GB might be more than enough for you. With this much disk space, you would not often need to delete stuff.
How much do you want to spend?
I'd lately buy the cheapest per GB.
The problem with size recommendation is that some people do nice, spruce, minimal PPs stuuf and other people excell surrounded by bloatware.
2-4Gb should be relatively cheap and ample.
Caveat; will old hardware switch big sizes?
