Can I do this beside RAM? hmm?

1. I own a IBM Thinkpad R52. It comes standard with 2x 256mb DDR2 PC2-4200. It is going to work out if I put surrounded by PC2-5300 or is it just going to crash and supply me errors, etc?
2. I figured if I upgrade from 512MB to 2GB of RAM, there's unequivocally going to be a performance increase but will that be bottlenecked by my laptop's 4400rpm firm drive?
3. I read somewhere that lowering the graphics display from 32bit to 16bit will increase battery energy but I don't seem to sense any difference. hmm?!?!?

Answer:
1. Faster RAM will work just one and the same as the slower kind, near the exception that it will simply downclock itself to match anything bus speed the slots currently use. If you were to after that transplant that RAM into a machine that supported DDR667, it'll verbs to run at that speed.
2. Mmmmn, it'll only really effect you when you're first booting up the system or if you're working near very big files. You would do economically to upgrade to a faster drive, but it's not an eminent concern.
3. I'm calling BS on this. I know that if you turn the brightness of the LCD kerosene lamp down, it'll help things... and if memory serves me, your IBM should enjoy that SpeedStep software that automatically lowers the CPU clock speed depending on system load. Lowering the color resolution will administer you an insignificant increase in battery-operated life, but it's not worth the trouble to be honest.
1. It won't crash. But the faster RAM will work surrounded by the speed of your slower RAM. SO it would be better to remove the slower ones and 'replace' them with the spanking new and faster one.

2. It won't be bottlenecked, you will get elevated performance adjustment when you upgrade.

3. I don't know much about this, but... if you are using adjectives the cool rig for gaming, don't decrease the color to 16bit. It won't look at adjectives nice.
can I do this! you might be jumping the gun a short time going to 2 gig i would stop @ 1 see with this laptop or you will lose to some extent than gain, you will end up worse past its sell-by date than you are now
On the memory in attendance is nothing that stops you from putting contained by faster memory, the computer might not make use of the faster speed and one and only run at the slower speed, but it won't cause problems.

On going from 512MB to 2 GB and if it will form things faster. It would really depend on what is currently the bottleneck, but memory usually helps. Memory is used within two ways. As you hold seen, I would doubt that the power consumed from 16 bit to 32 bit is much, but I guess it would depend on the graphics processor and such circuits.

P.S. I in fact took memory out of my machine, because I similar to to use hibernate, and for that it saves anything size memory you have to disk, and have less intended it would hibernate quicker, and the extra memory didn't do anything for me since for what I do 512MB is plenty (1 Gig didn't improve the running, but if I went subsidise to editing lots of images or if I did video I would put more fund in).
