Connect a laptop to tv?

I am trynig to connect my laptop to the tv. I'm using an s-video cable (having at both ends an s-video) next I bought a scart and connected it to one end of the s-video. It seem all useless wreak 'm having no output displayed on tv. I've also pressed the fn+the output display but still no nouns. What shall do?

Windows XP : With the computer on, Connect the S-video the Laptop. Than connect to other end to the TV (make sure you hold a S-Video or somehow have an adapter, I dunno TV's)
Than right click on your desktop, (empty space),

Right Click-> Properties-> Settings->Select the 2nd one (the big giant 2) and next select Extend my Windows something to this.
Hit Okay.

If it doesn't work either the cable, or adapter or tv doesn't work. Make sure you transfer the channel -_-
