It all depends on what you involve and what you want to do. I use an Apple G5 which is a desktop Mac and it works fine. The company I work for has upgraded to the newer Macs that very soon use Intel processors and those have shown a significant boost contained by speed from mine. There are games available for Macs as well and near continues to be more (although not as many as a Windows computer). A friend of mine have a MacBook and has said that it works purely fine for using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. (yes there is a Mac text of Office Suite)
There are a lot of programs available for Macs and PCs if you want a chronicle of some Apple programs check out www.apple.com and click on the software tab for a few. What I enjoy most roughly speaking my Mac is the ability to work beside video, photos, and music right from the bot. I know you can do this with a PC, but the iLife programs for me be a lot more interesting than what comes bundled next to a PC. Its nice to be able to do business work and enjoy the ability to work on the creative side as ably.
Apple will also be releasing their new OS which will allow for you to run Windows and Mac OS on your computer which is also an leeway besides Parallels (http://www.parallels.com/)

I own a macbook pro and love it. When I have to do things on PC, I run parallel, which let's me run Windows XP on my mac. A little pricey to get the integral thing, but never be happier.

The powerbooks own a pretty good battery-operated life, only just read and follow the battery instructions!
It depends upon what you do how long the charge last. You could purchase a back up battery-operated if you want, and just maintain in surrounded by the case for a standby. Discharge since recharging it.
If you are not platform dependent, step for an Macintosh Powerbook.
if its just for work, PCs are alot more practical. the world uses PCs and most of the business softwares are designed next to the PC in mind.
even though apple computers dont acquire viruses, you wont near PC either as long as you own anti virus softwares and not download excess programmes (eg. 5 different music players) if you consider gaming as a factor in your purchase, next its a PC definately as there are no games for macs.
any process, bigger memory and faster processors basically tight-fisted you dont have to verbs about anything but they might cost a bit.
i am a college student and am using a Toshiba M115 series laptop. i get it at bestbuy for like $650 and installed the norton internet indemnity. never gave me a problem. ive installed my music players and its get great built in speakers. it is still a business laptop.
