i own my desk top pc hooked up to a regualr behind the times modem nothing special. and i don't want to own to tangle w/ rope down and the desk to hook up my laptop. my lap top is a n e-machine pretty unknown just get it brand spanking new around x-mas and i hold a linksys wireless-G 2.4 ghz 54mbps broad band router. is in that any way i can only hook the router to the laptop and get internet or something assured i'm not lloking to travel around w/ the lay top it's just my comp that i can use while sitting on the couch. any back would be appreciated this isn't permanat i just call for it to be set up for a few days before i procure someone to set up the router to the desktop for me.

okay. The router should have come beside a cd-rom to install on the desktop. That should guide you through set-up (as in how to hook modem up to router and computer, etc). If your notebook have a wireless card, you are good to shift after you get it set up. If not, you stipulation a wireless card.
The laptop should have a built surrounded by NIC Wireless card. It should detect the router signal automatically.
