Windows Vista - Friend or Foe??
Answer:
Yes you can install xp onto your new computer, but you must hold either a investigational xp cd or one that is not within use by another computer, this does not mean oem cds that you may enjoy from an older computer. If you hold a store bought xp cd and it is not used by another computer you can use that for your investigational one.
Now since you can't downgrade, you will have to reformat the computer, and afterwards install windows xp. If you put the xp cd within while vista is still installed it will not install it for you, as vista is newer then xp.
I can't interpret Vista can be much different to Windows XP, but proberly afew jazzy extras. But I would give it a progress, certainitly not FOE.
I have an Acer Aspire 3680 beside Vista and I have have no serious problems (sure there might be a compatibility issue here and here and I would LOVE to have some more run into...but that's it.) You just get the unlucky hand of the draw.
But I would assume that you can install backwards, it's only just forwards that would be problematic (systems not being going on for to handle it and such.)
jump with XP for very soon
Wait for the software world to catch up next to Vista
Nothing is compatable with Vista immediately
Keep the disk around though lol
it supports it but xp will b better 4 u
You can certainly nouns XP, just have need of to reformat drive first as you can't install over Vista.
I've tried Vista and for most part it works fine, lately issues with drivers and confident applications. It keeps reinstalling the printer driver for my brand new printer. Also have trouble trying to run iTunes, which Apple say will take months to come up beside a patch.
My IT dept is still imaging and deploying systems with XP Pro. To me upgrading to Vista is not worth the cost or expense. But if you want to be on the major edge, it will be costly at times, not to mention frustrating.
Foe
Personally I would Choose Ubuntu Linux But Staying beside windows I would hold XP, it is much more compatable and faster
A lot of programmes are not compatible with Vista
