I would not buy any electronics from ebay, or for that matter a used laptop ever! Too frequent things can go wrong too at full tilt, not only that but across the world the battery is the first piece to die, and they tend to cost about $150 so here is a index of resonable priced laptops:

Keep away from walmart and no name brand laptops. Aslong as you dont buy a authentic generic brand laptop you will be ok! Watch out for sales, and if your a student you may massively well qualify for extra money at your school and the majority of manufacture. The last laptop is more or less the best deal, nearby all give or take a few $50 more than you wanted to spend.
