My laptop is freezing up?

I dont mull over it's a virus, if I tap it or move up it sometimes it comes out of it. Any suggestions. It's a (2001?) HP.

get a up to date one, don't buy HP. i used to work there and we avoided it approaching the plague.
Buy a new one. BJ's have nice Gateways for $499
If moving the laptop or causing a pulsation makes it freeze or unfreeze you are feasible dealing with a strong drive problem...HDD failure possible.

Try removing the covers on the bottom and remove the rugged drive and RAM (just in overnight case that could be the problem) examine the terminals to check for corrosion and later reinsert both.and see if that helps

If not, your knotty drive is going bad
