Anybody here switched from PC to MAC just this minute?
Answer:
Moving your files over is no problem at adjectives. In fact, if you buy your Mac from the Apple Store and purloin your PC in near you, they will move your files to your new Mac for you for free! They also enjoy free workshops for "switchers" to teach you give or take a few the new interface.
If you are unqualified to buy from an Apple Store, you can either burn your files to one or more DVDs to move them over, or you can verbs files over ethernet. I recommend ethernet if you have more than the 4.7GB that will fit on a DVD. If you enjoy a very small amount of notes, you can use a USB thumb drive to move files as well.
To verbs over ethernet, just hook an ethernet cable between the Mac and the PC. You do NOT call for a cross-over cable. A standard ethernet cable will do. On you Mac, go to the Sharing pane of System Preferences and select "Windows Sharing." Turn that on for your user. You will in a minute see text explaining what IP address to direct your PC to. Use Explorer on the PC to stir to that address. Now you can simply drag and drop files into that Explorer window.
My one caveat near this is that if you have any purchased (DRM-protected) WMA files, they will not work surrounded by iTunes. Otherwise, your other music files should drag and drop into iTunes just fine. Pictures can drag and drop into iPhoto.
You can't verbs the files, that I know of.
They are on completely different formats, other than mp3 and movie files. Then you basically e-mail them or burn em from 1 cd to another.
Stick with a workstation. They are easier to maintain and find reputable repair shops.
Santa be good to me!
Copy your personal facts to CD or DVD from Windows and next copy from CD to the Mac. Yes, it is that simple!
To uncap M$-Office files on the Mac, get NeoOffice from the Apple download site (click on the Blue Apple). Firefox and frequent other Open Source apps are there too.
you can use a flash drive or a cd-rom. The same path you'll do it on a pc. Macs arent freaks.
And dont hear idiots as royalpain. For god sake an mp3, jpg, etc, is duplicate on a mac, pc, linux, solaris, bla, bla . THEY ARE UNIVERSAL FORMATS. even Office documents
It is thoroughly easy to verbs files. Just copy them and transfer to your mac similar to you would to another PC. I just switched to a Mac and enjoy had no problems near transfering any of my files. I'm never going back to a PC!
cant verbs files yeh - sure of that. i never used mac before but when i getta engough dough im gonna switch to mac.
Burn your files on CDs and nurture them into the Mac. Everything that is a standard format is openable. I immediately have a tentative imac and transfer files constantly near the PC world. Picture files like jpeg are totally standard. Even Windows medium video can be played by just downloading a plug-in converter. If you use Microsoft Works documents(.wps) it make more sense to convert them first to Word .docs on your old PC, although I find you can rip them enlarge with Tex-Edit plus when on Mac. (A free converter from Works to Word is available from Microsoft). Word is totally standard and you freshly have to download Neo Office for free and you can drop your Word docs or Excel docs onto its symbol and they will sympathetic right up.
The idea that Macs are harder to keep up than PCs is bizarre to say the least possible. There's no such thing as the ritual downloading of MS patch, the hunt for hidden Trojans and keyloggers, the constant interruption to notify you something you don't want to know, which then refuse to be clicked off and keep popping up at you to stop you working. With my new Mac I worked for 3 months lacking ever even having to run the built-in repair software, and we communicate seamlessly near the PC world, receiving Word and Excel files and sending sour documents in those formats. When I see how my friends suffer next to XP I keep thank God I have a Mac!
