IS this a O.K. Laptop for conservatory?
Answer:
you are not going to want to lug around a 17" laptop, trust me. not only does it get the computer too big and heavy, but it also drains your mobile way faster than a 14 or 15".
this laptop is too much for institution. you don't need adjectives of those capabilities unless you plan on gaming approaching crazy. I have a Dell Latitude D620 (my university required it second year- we use the same laptop for 2 years and procure a new one at the conclusion of sophomore year) and it fits my school desires fabulously.
For school it is overkill. Its a gaming rig.

What you don't relay us is what level of institution, and the type of use that you plan for the laptop... but it sounds much more than enough for most desires.
If it's well inwardly your budget, go for it... if money is a concern, you could lower your sights for a while and save some bread
You may also want to give consideration to the software that you'll use... Office Student Edition would be a upright place to start, but you might check with the college, and see if they have any recommendation.
Consider, also, a spare battery, and a awfully good backpack... a 17" laptop can be a big thing to yank around all light of day
Thats a bit much for school. You don't inevitability nearly that much memory to use word and surf the net. You could spend partly that an still have a clothed PC.
You are looking to spend a lot. If you are looking at Dell's pattern site go to the Outlet tab and rummage for what you want there. You should be capable of get what you want next to a DVD burner instead of just a disc burner for about 20% smaller number. What you want to do is watch that page over subsequent couple of days. They refresh inventory regularly. We a moment ago purchased a 15.4" Dell with roughly speaking the same stats for smaller quantity than $800. We also were competent to get Windows Media Center instead of Vista (still for a moment scared of it).
Yeah i.e. pretty good lap-top. Have fun!
Hardware looks honourable but 17'' can occur problems while carrying it to arts school. Also it can be bigger than the desk so it might fall down when you crash at it. You can spend 2000$ to another laptop whose blind size is smaller 14'' or 15.4'' and has a faster processor similar to 2.0 GHZ but its up to you anyway.
Ya, I second what Paul/GL said. That is overkill for school.
You could probably find a fully clad laptop for school for around a imperial.
