Laptop overheats extremely quick?

My laptop is pretty aged, around 5 years old, and overheats surrounded by a matter of minutes. After partially an hour it can be so hot that it has to shut itself down to prevent sprain. I'm wondering, is this a common problem for a fairly old computer? And is here some kind of solution?

Answer:
Give it a moral cleaning and make sure it is contained by a well ventilate area. You might also want to look at buying a cooling wad for it. You can get them at any consumer electronics shop. They are relatively cheap. The intertwine below shows what I am describing.

The fan might any not be working or is not working capably, or maybe nearby is just a bunch of dust built up within it. Try blowing it out with a can of compressed nouns (make sure the computer it off first).
Hi, is the aficionado working? Are you using it on a hot surfaace like a blanket? On trick is to lift up the back of the notebook bad of the surface it is on. You can get a notebook cooler at most upright computer stores.
Once, I had to disassemble my laptop to rescue a DVD locked within a dead DVD Player. I made a miskate when assembled it again : a moment or two cable was between the cooling system and the processor. When I turned it on, the processor warm up to 80 °c ! That experience make me meditate of a hardware problem, probably on motherboard. Considering the huge cost the reparation would be (an outsided-guarantee laptop repair is sometimes as expensive as the price you bought it), you shoud consideer buying a new one back that ones crash (for data transfer).

My watch on latops is that, if you travel a lot whit it (like at lowest 3-4 times a week), his life expectancy is roughly speaking 3-4 years. I putted my old laptop to retirement after 3 years : I give it to my mother who does not travel with it.
