Answers:
joe, i find the mesh site enjoy erred in processor specifications
the t7100 > 1.80 ghz, 2 mb l2 cache, 800 mhz fsb
the l2 cache stated contained by site as also by you is 4 mb
not familiar next to their build / quality / service, else specifications are in order

http://www.intel.com/products/processor_...
find processor info on manufacturer, intel ^
very soon can you please tell us intended application / usage
and yes the dell 1520 & 1720 are getting dutiful reviews
nothing adverse that have come to my knowledge
** as you mention, you are a smug mesh user,
specifications are sure great, t7100 included
suit yourself !
If you intend to play games go for the MESH one (graphics card loads nicer and the 4mb cache will speed things up) but for save yourself the money and travel for the the Dell (never thought I would say 'save money and carry the Dell').
That's about the solely big difference I can see between them, it all depends what you will be using it for.
The Dell will be fine for most ancestors but if you're going to be playing new games on here with adjectives the details turned up the MESH will be a better option.
In short the MESH is the better tool (better = faster) but if you won't be playing games the Dell is a better option for you.
Hope this help, and enjoy whichever one you move about for ;)

You should get a Mesh GX700.
