I hold a ibm thinkpad that be giving to me but it have a passcode how do i gain the passcode past its sell-by date the compute?
Answer:
Ask the entity who gave it to you for the password. There are three possible places for a password, the BIOS, the tricky drive and the operating system. If it is the BIOS you can remove the CMOS battery for 10 minutes (unplug it and remove the battery-operated first), if it is on the hard drive it cannot be bypassed, and if it is on the OS in that may be a way to bypass it depending on the OS.
I am contained by a similar situtation. I believe its my cmos battery as all right. What does the battery look approaching?
The cmos battery will remove the password protection in your bios. I don't really use passwords, so I do not know if that applies to the operating system password. However if you enjoy a operationg system installation disk, just pop it within and reinstall your OS. If you do not have an OS disk, but do own a serial on your notebook, download an OS off a peer to peer meet people and use your serial. :)
