What benevolent of a laptop should I draw from?
I am the most familiar next to Microsoft operating systems and have no problems next to Windows XP, either edition. I haven't used a Mac computer contained by a while, but I like to cram how to use software anyway, so that shouldn't be a problem for me.
Answer:
For Office 2007, great Media Center capabilities, general game compatibility, etc, procure a Vista Home Premium laptop.
Look for one with a Core 2 Duo, and preferably 2GB RAM...but that much RAM won't be cheap as a standard factor in a laptop. The bright edition of Windows Media Center in Vista Home Premium allows you to noticeably listen to your music and watch DVD's, etc, but ALSO let's you examine, record, quickly forward, rewind, and pause LIVE TV. All you obligation is a TV Tuner card for your laptop's expansion slot, and record your favorite shows while you're busy, and keep watch on them later. The alien Voice Command feature built into Vista is awesome, too. You can control any application, even non MIcrosoft software, entirely next to your voice. I'd get one of these:

Obviously the HP is going to be better...but the Gateway is other. The processor is a little slower, but next to 2 cores and massive RAM, it's not a horrifically noticable difference.
If you were looking for something compact, sleek, powerful, and productive, I would recommend a different MacBook with a 2GHz Core 2 Duo and 1GB or 2GB of RAM (depending if you be going to keep OSX or upgrade to Vista). You can put Vista on it if you'd approaching, and then use it for your games, Office 2007, etc.

I own had problems near OfficeMax too. I think Toshiba is the best choice. They are correct for listening to music and playing DVDs. Most but for all hold WLAN so you can connect to the net wirlessly. They are pretty affortable. I hold had my Toshiba Satalite A105 for a year and so far i enjoy had apsolutly no problems.
