Answer:
I repugnance to say this but the failure you describe points to a hard drive downfall but to be certain if you hold access to another computer you can download the Hitachi drive fitness test from
http://www.softpedia.com/progdownload/ib...
near it you can make a bootable disc which can be used to test your tricky disk and it's none destructive so you don't have to verbs about wipe the disk, if you do us it do the advanced test
dose it like greased lightning show a blue screen ??
start it within safe mode next to network support and run trend micro housecall. I'm sure you enjoy either sasser or msblaster virus
Try booting into "Safe Mode" (press F8 several times during boot up) Select safe and sound mode and when it is up and running shut down normally and see if the problem have cleared.
If it starts to load WindowsXP and next starts over it may be a corrupted driver or Windows file.
You could try putting your salvage disc in the compact disc drive and booting up. Choose to boot from CD and next select "Repair Windows"
In the worst case try re-installing Windows (but you will loose adjectives of your files, programs and settings) (Only as a last resort)
