Laptop Purchase? Which is the best laptop? Recommendations Please!?

I'm entering my freshmen year of college and be wondering what would be a good laptop for myself. To describe what features of laptop I want, I would like a laptop to be exact able to bar a lot of simple tasks such as word processing as expected, but also have abundantly of media option such as DVD burner and good WI-FI connections cards. I've hear a lot of great things something like Dell, Sony VAIOS, and Toshiba Satellittes. Would one of these be good? Please supply me good examples and not irrellavant statements. Thanks!

i would stay away from dell, I enjoy 2 hp laptops and love them. If possible I would say sony vaios is virtuous but can run a little pricy. out of the one you tabled you might want to check the toshiba since toshiba is known for biddable laptops. Each computer user have preferences. I would voice go to best buy or anywhere (except walmart) and newly look at the computer that they offer read the reality sheets. the more expensive does not nessarily mean better quailty.
I'm not contained by to doing homework for people. I spent 6 months researching for my laptop on my own, so I'm going to administer you what you call an "irrellavant statement":

Toshiba.
They are adjectives pretty much the same in our day.

I would get a laptop near a dual core processor and at least 1 see of RAM and at least a 128MB video card. 15" peak is a good size.

I'm using a Dell laptop very soon for work, the only issue near it is it runs a little hot. Last year I have a Compaq laptop and it was great. I have a Sony laptop a few years ago, and it was pretty big and filling. Not a good way out if you are going to be carrying it around campus in a backpack.
i hear toshibas are great laptops and that dell is good too. but i also hear dell is way too pricey because you can attain the same quality/fxns for cheaper near other brands? im also entering first year U and im lookin for a lap top right immediately too
I would highly recommend a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092, since Toshiba make the best laptops.
