Wireless Laptop, Help?

Is within anyway I can use my wireless laptop at places that don't have a router or internet service (like hotels, airport etc)? I purloin my laptop everywhere and bought it to use for my business at the places I stay at. I can never use it because these places don't have a router. Is in attendance a way to use this short buying a connect to internet card like from At & t or my cell phone provider? That is awfully expensive and you own to take a two year contract out near these plans. What is the sense in have a wireless laptop if you can't use the internet with it? I don't become conscious this? I did not realize this when I bought the laptop. Thanks
