Does installing Linux on a HP laptop nullify its warranty?
Answer:
You can demand many HP's near Linux installed. So loading linux won't nullify the warranty BUT you will have to reload beside the restore CD's before you can carry warranty assistance or service from HP! So keep those productive restores handy.
Don't call them for assistance or phone support near a Linux issue.
Most mfg's can't support what they didn't sell. But adjectives will support if it is setup like they sold it.
Hope that help.
Not sure but you can always contact them to double check next to that.
Are you planning on having a dual boot between Windows and Linux or newly Linux?
If you have only Linux and need support, they won't assist you. If you have Windows on it and something happen to a part next they should repair it.
It might depending on the Terms and Conditions of your warranty. Possibly the warranty might get voided for any preinstalled software such as Windows but still be valid for the hardware.
Only HP can answer that interview specifically and I suggest a written response from them in the event of a difference of opinion down the road.
