How do I rest corrupted files on my external concrete drive?

I turned on my Fantom drive this morning to find that the contents of an entire directory of movie files be gone. The folder listed 0 files, 0 bytes, though they be all present the daylight before and I know not a soul deleted them. But what's strange is that when I tried to transfer some of the delete files from my computer hard drive to the Fantom, it wouldn't permit me, saying stuff just about files with those name already existing in that directory. So it's close to the data is adjectives there - it's simply not showing up.

The hard drive be off and I know NO ONE access it between the last time I saw the files and this morning. I chew over that since it appears that the data is still present, near is a chance to accumulate it. Any pointers?

EDIT -
It seems strange that everything within a folder would suddenly go missing. Check the drive for errors. Perhaps the profile system is damaged or you own bad sector on the hard drive.
If near are no errors, try using this free undelete program:

Well, whatever you do, don't write any information to the external hard drive. Did your computer crash not long? Perhaps something happened to the driver or the registry entries for your external sturdy drive. Try re-installing the drivers for it. Check the USB cable too.
You can attempt to recover the files near PC Inspector File Recovery - free here

It do happens, probably some virus enter your HDD, when you last access and was waiting for subsequent boot, a good time to attack and corrupt or may be delete your files.

Try to use some report recovery softwares resembling "Recover my files", and recover your files.
