Adding a 2nd intricate drive?

I enjoy an old computer next to xp and the motherboard went out but my complex drive is still good. I bought a unusual xps computer with win xp and i want to put the mature hard drive contained by to get the files from it. Im not looking to preserve that drive in at hand just to put my music and word files on the unsullied one. How do i do that?

You can actually put in that hard drive by making it Secondary surrounded by the new computer. Just plug it within with a flex from SMPS.

Take a look on the motherboard and see what wire go to the original spanking new hard drive. Take the flex from the adjoining socket and attach it to the elder HDD. you are done.

Point is to make it lesser. Once it is there, you can see it when you boot your system subsequent time.

1. Set the old drive to Master, this configuration can be determined by reading the top of the HDD and see what the production instructions are for it.

2. Set the current HDD to slave, same steps as the first one.

3. Secure the HDD to the computer on the inside brackets. (Do not over screw the screws).

4. Read on the motherboard to make sure that you know which cable slot to plug it into. IDE will work next to SATA drives. Use which ever cable you need to use and connect the HDD to the motherboard.

5. Plug contained by the power supply to the HDD.

6. Start the system up and go into the bios to put together sure that both HDDs are showing up. You may have to assign the drives correspondence, but hopefully the system will have updated for you.
