Taking computer parts carry-on on an airplane?

I'm contemplating shipping my computer through the correspondence or checking it. Either way, I want to clutch at least the harddrive carry-on beside me, so it won't get shabby.

However, will this be allowed? Would the security conjecture it's some weird bomb-like contraption? Also, would I be capable of get away near taking stuff like the Power Supply, Ram, Video Card, etc beside me as carry-on or would that just freak em out even more next to all the wires? I'm flying American Airlines inwardly the continental US.

Anybody with experience/knowledge, please make available advice. :D

Answer:
It will be okay getting your tough drive or case beside you, but put it in a big case of traveling and then if they asked for what is that in recent times tell them its the unyielding drive. Another thing is, unsurprisingly computer stuff will be allowed at airports since its not anything to spoil people.
If you believe it will get trouble of late sell the PC and procure a new one somewhere else.
