First try by starting your PC near the window XP disc that came beside your computer,choose repair and press ENTER as if to install window XP, choose instruction book which will repair system files,boot sector problems or start up system problems,select repair process then restart the PC if successful,the PC will restart and fnction properly.If the problem still keep on your system may be suffering from virus or hardware problems.Finally if it is after you install any software the problem started try and un-install it and restart your system.Good luck
Just insert windows xp disc and re start computer and follow up.
I would only format your drive if you know you hold backed up adjectives your data as you will loose everything, try booting from your xp disk and re-install over the window directory it should only repair imperfect files.
