My cpu hit 100 deg C after 2 minutes when i realised that i forgot to replace the thermal. Is it fried?
Answer:
There's a opening it could be fine, but there's also a change it could be fried. Make sure you hold everything hooked up. If it's fried, you will know...you will need a clean one.
Deep fried as a chicken, most likely.
If you attempt to operate a CPU in need heatsink at all, recent AMD CPUs will usually be for good damaged inwardly seconds, unless special protection circuitry is available on the motherboard. P4 CPUs will run excessively slow minus cooler.
