simply use Microsoft Word. It comes out of Microsoft Office software.
Like bertz said use Microsoft Word...whether your using a Mac or a Windows Machine it is the industry standard for word processing
Wordpad comes next to Windows Operating Systems and is free, all though it is not as sophisticated as MS Word.
You could use Microsoft bureau, if you can afford it. Or you could use the openoffice.org, a free software that has impossible to tell apart features as the ms office and works next to any operating system.
the is also word pad or notebook these should already be on your computer. You can find them surrounded by the accessories.

If you are using an apple mac or a Mac OS X then the most used one is Appleworks, which includes software for spreadsheets, word proccessing, fine art etc...
If you are on the windows operating system, the most adjectives is MS Office, there be a new journal this year ( MS Office 2007), but the 2003 version is still apposite. Good alternatives include openoffice,star office and word supreme.

There are obviously worse ones close to notepad and wordpad which dont require you to purchase them, they come pre-installed on windows operating systems. And as all right as Office for windows theres another pack called Microsoft works which have a few *useful* programs on.
And a quick google turn out would find you some others, but if i was you i'd stick to Microsoft organization and Appleworks, or the others i mentions in the second paragraph.
You can use openoffice it is a in one piece office suite resembling MS Office, but it is totally free and legal to download.
They enjoy versions that work on Windows including Vista, MAC OS and Linux.
