Does anyone know how to fix a computer that turns on but won't boot?

One of my computers merely broke down and won't turn on. The night up to that time it happened, the the ivories wasn't working even though its lights were on, and when I found out the subsequent day that the computer wouldn't work, the laser mouse be extremely hot. I thought the power supply ran out at first, but after installing a alien one, it still didn't work. Does anyone know anything I can do to fix it?

If I try to turn on the computer, the orange busy fluffy comes on, but the green power light does not. Also, even though the computer won't start up on the monitor, the monitor, speakers, mouse, and the ivories all turn on. The keyboard's NumLock and CapsLock lights other stay on and won't turn off, the CapsLock restrained flashing brighter than the NumLock light.

Otherwise, is it possible to verbs the files from the hard drive on a computer resembling this to another computer?

Answer:
Okay I am A+ certified and have run into this problem a couple times. It really sounds similar to your motherboard is shot. If you are a tech guy, then I would undo the case up, and disconnect everything from the motherboard except psu and cpu and run into. If you get it to boot, consequently your mobo is good and it is something else. Connect your unyielding drive and see if it boots, if not later your hard drive is gone. If it won't boot the first time past you connect the hd, then steal the mobo out of the case and try to win it to boot outside the case. it basically be a short. I am trying to explain this as best as possible, but it is a little tricky. If you enjoy any questions, next feel free to contact me.

within regards to your second request for information you can easily a short time ago put the old drive within a new computer and use it that mode without any software to install. If the Hard drive turns out to be doomed to failure though, then you can still retrieve the info, but you will want to call contained by a professional.
yeah ..you can plug the hd into another pc to copy files... and pray its not a virus ...
you hold a motherboard or cpu problem.when you start your pc, input/output controller starts and check if you hold a ram, consequently a vga card, and then ultimate have baby grand.so, when system started, you see your keyboard's all lead ligths one time. after a second or less, your system boots. if it doesn't come to pass, the problem can be firstly motherboard, secondly yor cpu, and last your strike. pls check this parts of your pc. i suppose you must get a sustain from a technic man.
Have a nice days.
To answer your question, yes it is possible to verbs data from the major drive to the one you installed just copy and join

To answer your other question, within are two possible reasons why your computer is not workin ..
one the mother board might be shot
two , the not easy drive may have crashed but what you enjoy told me it seems to be a motherboard problem
if your a handon personality you could probably replace the hardrive \and or\ mother board but you are not bring it to a repair shop

Hope this helps ,

J.D.
You can try drumbeat f8 until you get setup and boot routines and possibly start it contained by safe mode. You own to go to F8 formerly it boots, anyway. Why not try it on the first bounce?
it must not have a easier said than done drive....check
sounds like your computer is toasted
it is probably a guiltiness on the CPU or MEM that is cause this or maybe make worse from an overheat....This can happen if your CPU or GPU cooling fan stop working and you keep using your computer. (I have to fix a computer where someone melt all the plastic mountings and follower their graphics card (as the fan stopped working)

If you are into computers you can check this out yourself otherwise step to a computer repair shop to get it fixed.

If you want to check it our yourself (only if your contraption is not still in warranty) unscrew the case and fiction the box on it's side

Check all the fan by pushing em by hand to see if any of them get stuck (the fan bearing will feel gritty and stiff)
if you find one of your fan like this it is plausible that the compunent it was supposed to be cooling get damaged.

if a hanger-on fault is not adjectives, Remove Power cable (mains), then remove adjectives of your PCI cards (modems sound cards, etc) except your graphics card, remember which slots these be in so you can put them hindmost.

Plug in the POWER cable (mains) and try to switch on your computer, if your computer starts, next Huraah....Switch it off again and start plugging surrounded by your PCI cards one by one, Testing after each one to see which one is flawed.

if your computer did not come back on you KNOW that your PCI cards are most expected OK. next point to try is removing all of your Drives (remember which cable plug into which) try to switch on to test, (following a similar procedure as the PCI cards)

if no elation then MEM is subsequent, you will have 1 or more memory cards contained by your computer (IF it is DDR Mem they will have metal coverings on and work surrounded by PAIRS) Be very alert with MEM as it is static sensetive.

ensure that you own unpluged mains, Earth yourself to the metal covering (by touching the frame) and remove half of the memory surrounded by your Machine (touch only the edges of the boards (do not touch the chips)

Plug the power final in and Test. if the mechanism starts up then you hold found that 1or more of the mem cards you removed are faulty, if lone 1 card then you own identified the fault. if more than 1 swap partially of the removed cards with the installed mem , later reTest, if the machine did not boot after removing partially the mem swap the installed mem for the removed mem and retest (REMEMBER TO REMOVE MAINS BEFORE SWAPPING MEM ABOUT)

if you still do not have a working computer consequently it is either the Motherboard or the CPU, (you cannot try-out your CPU as you only enjoy 1) ( if you do have a compatible CPU to assessment replace CPU with agreed good, if device still fails next the mothrboard is screwed

you can either get hold of the repair shop to replace this or you can replace it yourself, remember to get a board i.e. compatible with your MEM & CPU types (as CPU & MEM architechtures adaptation frequently)

I hope this helps you resolve, it should confine most faults (as you effectively isolate everything surrounded by turn)

as far as Data transfer from a complicated disk is concerned, you can connect your hard disk (AS A SLAVE) to the IDE (SATA) cuff of another box and read the contents from My Computer on the other MAchine, Another way is to purchase an Extermal USB 2 HDD Enclosure (without disk) ensure to get the right cage type for your disk (IDE, SATA, OR SCSI)then you can just connect it to the USB port on a different mechanism to read your data (You will not know how to boot from it)
I can give you a knit that deals next to hard drive problems.
Some drive problems can be well fixed by yourself using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.within useful. Try this site, if you can draw from what is required.
