80GB HDD shared beside 3 accounts( including guest ).How to transform the HDD size so i hold the bigger space?
Answer:
Firstly, you will have to achieve your kids to cooperate. Remove their files and put them somewhere else. After that, you have to see the disk quotas feature. Right click the drive, select properties, shift to the quota tab. Enable the system and click the "Quota Entries" button. Customize the settings. DO NOT limit your own disk space!
Disclaimer: Your drive have to be formatted as NTFS.
You need to gain hold of something like Partition Magic which is a non-destructive channel of resizing logical drives without losing background.
There are free versions out within but I haven't tried them so I cannot vouch for any particular software but PM is probably the safest publication.
Upgrade your HDD to 250,300 or 500GB and dont worry in the region of it.I recently upgraded from 80GB to 300GBs for smaller number than $100.00.I bought a Maxtor DiomondMax 300GB-buffer size:16MB-seek time 9.0ms-external tranfer rate 150MB/sec-Sata/150.If you go this route you wont enjoy to care how much is used.
Assuming you single have 1 drive near no partitions (i.e c: drive only) right click on the C: drive surrounded by my computer, remove disk quotas. no files will need to be moved or changed and nought will be deleted. that will work.
