A grill going on for Graphic card for S.T.A.L.K.E.R?
ATI RADEON Xpress 200 Series
Graphics card on my computer (I have no thought what that means) and a friend of mine gave me this hobby called S.T.A.L.K.E.R Chernobyl somthing.
The activity said my card wasn't good ample but I installed it anyway.
When I play there are glitches and lags.
What card would fix that?
Answer:
if you want a recent card (I hold a nvidia 8800 GTX, but I'm sure a 7000 series card will work fine), you will most likely stipulation a new motherboard (one that supports a PCI Express 16x slot or two) togther will most predictable cost $900 ($500 to $700 for a good graphics and $150 to $200 for the motherboard), but that's lately an estimate
check your CPU rating, anything lower than 2 GHz is obsolete by todays standard, and a see or 2 of RAM is usually sufficent.
you need to know if you computer is using an AGP clear card or a PCI-E graphic card.
Best of AGP pictographic cards would cost you $180-250.
middle range would be somewhere around $100-150
PCI-E cards are faster than AGP cards and cheaper within general. (but the best ones can walk up to $500 or more)
Check the minimum requirements on computer specs for the game. That would guide you to which pictographic card you would want to upgrade to.
A safe choice would be GeForce 6600 GT
wow old/bad card o.O stalker is a amazingly graphically demanding game, i would recommend an ATI x1950 pro, going for around $250 on ebay, probably dearer contained by shops, but i would recommend an Nvidia 8800GTX, going for around $870+, good luck!
If STALKER is a exotic game, your best bet is a card near "256 MB" memory or better. Even if you don't understand that, dance too futureshop or somewhere and tell them that your looking for the cheapest 256 card availible. That should run the winter sport fine. Probably not at highest ability, but about mid inventory. If you don't know how too install, your best bet is to just bring it contained by, you don't want to wreck anything on your computer.
AGP or PCi-Express graphic card?
You requirement to know as this affects you choices.
I'm running Stalker on a 128Mb Agp 6600gt at medium settings OK.
If you own Pci- express check prices of ATI x1950gt 256Mb these are getting very cheap (uk lb60-70 us approx $150).
If you hold Agp 6600gt or 7600gt are about same price (but lower performance).
Your graphics chip is markedly basic, and contained by not designed to cope with modern games approaching STALKER. What you need to do is this.
1: look for the model number of your notebook (normally found on a sticker somewhere on the tower
2: go to the manufacturer website, and look up the support pages for you contrivance using the model number
3: look up wether your motherboard had an AGP, or PCI-E slot
4: once you know which it have, then you know what sympathetic of graphics card you need. As an IT Pro, I would support to not go for anything smaller amount than 512mb memory on whatever card you choose. In US$, you are looking at spending around $200 at lowest for a decent graphics card that will concluding for some time. If you choose an ATI based card, the well brought-up thing is that they are better than Nvidia at the moment. You should look at a Radeon X1950. If you choose an Nvidia card (beware, their drivers enjoy been lousy for former times 6 months), then look at the 8800 collection. Prices vary, but $200 is an entry stratum price for gaming cards.
Also, make sure your processor and Ram are adept of running modern games.
