On starting my computer my cd drive comes out how do I avoid this?

Its a compaq prosignia desktop and have Windows XP

Sounds like a system or start up wallet might be corrupt and an eject command is being issued during boot. If you own your original XP install compact disc you could try a System File Check. From the desktop with no other programs running, click start > run > type contained by "sfc /scannow" > OK (no quotes and note the space between sfc and /scannow.) If the scan detects shabby or missing files you'll be prompted to insert the CD. The scan could whip over an hour.
