Build or Make?

I want a computer that can play video games. I will play mostly strategies, and I want them to be at max settings. Medieval 2 Total War at max settings looks resembling it will be the most strenuous on my computer, and that's the game I want the most. So that's what I want to bottom my computer requirements on.

Would it cost more to buy an already built computer or buy my own? I don't have thousands to spend, maybe 1100-1200 dollars Canadian (1,030.06-1,123.70 in American) to buy a computer, the ivories and mouse, and monitor. Can somebody give me some option?

Answer:
Well I know that Dell will build you a computer with only about any specifications you ask for. But BEWARE, brand sure you are someone you trust knows the computer lingo when discussion to a sales representative. Go on strip look up computers and do comparisons. Your CPU is the most important entity. you can go to a computer repair shop.a refurbish shop. pawn shop, or a Good Will and draw from the other items cheap. I got a extraordinarily nice Hewlett Packard monitor and a Dell mouse for five dollars each from the Good Will store. Don't RUSH! Look around and compare. Before buying or building run to Consumer Reports and check them out on the net This is something your putting plentifully of money into and something your going to be spending plenty of time with.
Dude/dudette:

For $1100 you could buy a SMOKIN device. Unless you know what you are doing, don't even THINK of building your own.

Look for a PC with a clothed processor, (Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 or better), lots of RAM, (2 Gigs is good), and a kick-a** vid card. (256 MB min.)

Cheers
in the uk.. i used to build pc's .. BUT I completed up buying my last workstation and upgrading some of the parts.. worked out far cheaper.

you will need a fully clad gfx card though, i upped mine to a gt7600 and memory.. the cpu is a amd x2 3800.. which is good plenty. added more memory and new PSU

and that be about lb420 lacking monitor.. so basically done up costing hhmm lb520 for decent spec'd domestic device.

also remember pc companies getting OEM version of windows at a big discount.. if you buy it when you build a laptop , you don't get equal.
I find that it is much cheaper to build your own. As long as you have a slightly more that average fluency of computers, you can do it. I built mine for 800 dollars including tax and shipping. runs BF2142 fine on lofty settings. It does take abundantly of time though. You have to browse sites for a long time and manufacture sure everything matches and is biddable quality. My favorite parts site is www.newegg.com.

Good Luck
