The more RAM the better. I'd suggest getting more if you care roughly speed and use a lot of files.
Well, you can procure two with 512MB of knock against each and enjoy over 1GB of ram or take 4 with 256 MB of push each and enjoy the same piece so it doesn't make too much of a difference unless you bring back two 1GB rams which will furnish you too much ram and I don't regard you really need it for a home base PC.

window xp maxes out at 2Gb of ram. Vista can touch up to 4Gbs. get as much as you can afford as push = speed. there are two types of push you should be concerned about. DDR and DDR2. DDR is elder and slower then DDR2. if this is a hot machine, it will call for DDR2. one that is two or more years outmoded will take DDR. acquire a free copy of cpu-z and run it on your computer. it will tell you what you own now. simply get like peas in a pod type.

For the average user, 2GB of RAM is plenty even on a machine running Windows Vista. I am an IT professional and I commonly have copious many applications friendly simultaneously, and 2GB is plenty for me.

i don't know for what purpose u want to have 4 ram but 4 rams are merely used by the people who are inthe paddock on animation or what to do some work regarding information base etc

It all depends on how much knock against your mobo can handle but I devise you are talking going on for slots on the mobo sometimes there are 2 or 3 or 4. The difference self if there be 2 slots, your mobo can only bar 2 gigs. Now my mobo has 4 slots and can feel only 2 gigs. Depends on factory owner or the price you want to pay.
