Are refurbished desk top computers worth the price and?

If you're not doing any unhealthy encoding or looking for a gaming type system you don't really need a adjectives lot for general use of a computer.
I try not to recommend the refurbs one and only because they don't usually come with any warranty and it can be a physical headache if something fails....simply getting a solid diagnostic could be costly in some situations.
Dell, gateway and the other build-a-box companies usually hold some sort of budget model available if your needs aren't much. Most expected something around $400 or so would be the cheapie system but it would at least come near a warranty and tech support.
I think dell also does provide refurbished models themselves. I don't know how cheap they run but I suspect if you want maybe more of a mid-ranged system you might find some option that are less restrictive than the bottom of the container basic setup.....also look into if near are any warranty options for them as powerfully.

from what ive seen usually no ... u can find exotic cheap desktops at the entry level that at smallest have the then processor and memory for about one and the same price as a refurbished one that probably has yesteryears parts within it ..
depends on the specs: processor (pentium 4 if good) RAM ( 512MB is good) and harddrive (40 GB is decent depending on your needs)
I've bought embark on box items for substantial discounts. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. A refurbished part may have an undiagnosed problem.
Try delloutlet.com or Frys.com. A refurbished computer is rebuild to factory specifications and usually comes with one and the same warranty as a new one (at Dell anyway). It can be a honourable buy. My last two PC's be refurbished and lasted 5 years and 4 years next to no trouble. (They just get outdated).
