I hold a G4 and i enjoy a 4 year outmoded boy who i caught repeatedly pushing the power button. in a minute it won;t come on
Answer:
Everytime the power button (on any computer) is pressed, a power spike passes through the system. It's designed to lift this. But hitting over and over again had potential fried something.
If your computer has a fuse on the support next to the power cord you can check to see if it's blown. If so replace it wit exactly like peas in a pod kind of fuse and it should be ok. Don't even surmise of opening the casing unless you know what you are doing and are willing to null and void the warranty. Techs get the bucks for knowing how to fix what little kids rumple. Next time try removing the power cord after you shut down to keep little unauthorized fingers from flaming your PC.
erm economically if you don't know what your doing under the travel case dont open it you invalid the warrenty. it might be the powerleads fuse try that, if not consequently well something inside get it maybe it be a capacitor, could be by the sounds of it, doing it over and over again could cause abundantly of problems and a lot of these 'do it yourself guides' on the interent are really fruitless i have to right to be heard i've been building and repairing pc's for over 10 years and some of what they enunciate (not all) is really not a good belief or good practice so in recent times get a tech b/c they know what they are doing thats why you clear them
as some one said above a power spike happens what this is when you press the power button for on or sour, it sends a voltage to the Motherboard which it can take but it won't if you do it over and over again because the capacitors won't pocket it and they stop everything getting messed up
If you have a G4 tower, it's mature enough that it is out of warranty. You can try a couple things. First unplug the computer, on the tower, right side is a touch that will pop open the side. Look around on the mother board in need touching anything, you'll find a small reset button (really small), either red or white, push it. Close the computer spinal column up. Let it sit about an hour. Plug everything stern in and try starting it up.
