If you're a professor or in university, you will draw from an educational discount whether you buy through your uni or from the Apple Store directly (both online and surrounded by a brick and mortar store). If you are buying online, look for the "More Stores" area surrounded by the righthand column and click on "Education." Once in the Education store, the prices you see will copy the discount.
If you do not qualify for an educational discount, ring your closest Apple Store (link below) and ask if they hold any "refreshed" (bought and then returned) Mac Pros, or any that used to be floor models.
