Answers:
Your sturdy drive or motherboard might be failing.

If you have anything influential on your computer, I would back it up onto any an external hard drive or burn it to a cd-r or dvd-r.

Hard drives, especially internal strong drives, are very cheap to buy now.

The freezing though sounds like a software problem, such as spyware or virus maybe.

Install and run these free antispyware and antivirus tools:
Windows Defender (from Microsoft):

and Active Virus Shield (from AOL):

grinding noise, any your fan or hd.ego get a tech within or get a overt pc see where on earth the noise is coming from and once you find the culprit time for an upgrade
enjoy you run a scan recently?

i own my antivirus software scan at least twice a sunshine.

start first with turning on your computer contained by SAFE MODE
once on...go to your scan...and run it

after it have completed, log off / shut down and restart from a cold start.

this should do it.

fitting luck
I dont know your machine spec but if your computer is clogged up near junk see the join below for clearing junk after the upload of all that trash from your frozen drive into your memory will cause a trunk slow down and freeze!

What you should try is this. Get into safe mode, when it restarts of late keep beating F8 until you get a menu that allows you to progress into safe mode. That will nouns all the minimum drivers etc... and you will find it runs in good health. After that ensure you go to My Computer, right click the C: drive, walk down to properties, go to tools (look for the tab across the top), Go for a full defragment of your drive and then dance for a deep scan disk. After that boot up within normal mode after use the CCleaner software (link given) and clear up all the crap thats on your system.

Failing that you may hold a virus or your Hard drive has really have it. But try this first. This is usually the case! Windows is poorly programmed and when you uninstall plentiful programs dont uninstall properly leaving loads of Temp report junk contained by your system and the rule of your system is to load adjectives Temp files first so when loads of Temp file unwanted items is left astern your memory is just consumed next to loads of trash.
It can be a few things, if you think the HDD is making nose then the HDD may be outdated and dieing for any number of reasons. That can be the drive the computer is freezing too much, the other thing is that you may own a virus or have too copious things running at once and that boging your system. The best thing to do is free up the system memory and verbs out the HDD or back up adjectives the files you need and do a verbs install of the OS. You may also have ad-wear and spy-wear that can also slow and bog your PC, near are programs you can find and buy to delete that from your PC. If the problem continues after the clean install after it could be the HDD but it can still be a number of things as will. The push could be faulty you may necessitate a new motherboard but try the install
first.
It exceedingly well could be a failing knotty drive. If it is the sooner you get it replaced the better the probability all your facts will not be lost. It could also be your CPU fan. If it is gone down properly, your CPU will overheat and lock up once it gets too hot. Pull the cover, and verify the fan are spinning and not making any noise. You might even obtain lucky and hear the hard drive grind while at hand also.
Get Linux.
