Desktop Cooling?

Before you upgrade your computer's cooling system, you might want to check to see if it voids your warranty.
If you want to stick next to air-cooling I would use a Zalman all copper fan/heat-sink for your CPU:

You can also check your case or look surrounded by the computer's product manual to see if you can affix any case fan.
A newer, and more expensive form of cooling is water cooling. I instinctively do not use one of these systems but the people at www.tomshardware.com, who try-out a lot of glorious end over-clocked systems, use this system beside good results:

That aside, you have a powerhouse CPU.
Don't overclock newly for the sake of doing it ... 'cause it's cooool . 'cause it ain't.
In fact you're playing beside fire.
If you are a gamer concentrate on the RAM & the video card.
Toying with that distinctive processor won't make much of a difference.

Very sensible answer Philip T. Thumbs up for you too. Don't Overclock it, there is no necessitate to. And keep that nouns moving with front and reverse case fan if don't already have them. Assuming you don't enjoy them, and there are spots for them, verbs in the front and push out the hindmost. This works good for me.
Running C2D e6600, 2 GB DDR2 800, eVGA 8800 GTS OC(factory oc), 2x320 GB SATA II contained by RAID 0( I make some heat). No problems even so, my computer room is small(8'x9') with 2 computers on 24x7, and summer on the instrument. May have to win an A/C unit for this room.
