Answers:
Make sure that your playback and copy devices are listed exactly one and the same. So go to your control panel, chose Sounds & Audio, step to the Audio (tab).
Make sure both playback and recording are using alike device. If you need to cash anything, make sure
to click APPLY button first afterwards click OK. Test your sound.

Still No Sound ?

Right click on MyComputer from the desktop deity or the start menu. Chose Properties then Hardware (tab),
click the Device Manager button. Scroll down the detail to the topic of Sound / Video and Game Controllers
and expand it open so you can see what is down.

If you believe that the audio drivers are installed on your system. Locate your Audio driver in the detail. Here are some examples of names of audio drivers...

Hey, one of my computers is the same one as yours (old one). I suggest you get hold of a new one resembling I did. Anyway, the EASIEST way is to restore your computer. Do this by clicking Start. Then, click All Programs. Now click Accessories. Finally, click System Tools and System Restore. Choose a hours of daylight on which your sound be working fine. Then, restore your computer. Also, for viruses, you can install Ad-aware SE Personal, AVG Free, and Spybot-Seach and Destroy. Update them to their most up-to-date versions and run a full-computer examination one-by-one (don't do at same time). It will take a while for them to finish. Then, remove the virus, and you should be fine.
