512 bump stick mixing brands?
I hold one 512 ram stick contained by my system and it dosen't state the brand can you mix brands?
I opened they computer stick be blank.

You cannot do a lot of harm- it will basically beep and not boot up
Note - if you hold two sticks the computer will dump down to the speed of the lower stick
If that speed is still above your bus speed it will not matter
If that speed is lower than your bus speed it may cut your computer speed - but if it is all you enjoy for now it may be suboptimal but better than up to that time
- boot into the bios to see if it reads it adjectives

sometimes it can use ram but will not afford it the full amount

It is very difficult to read out. Sometimes you can mix and the next time it won't work.
What I would do is buy a one see stick (two if you can afford it) of new RAM. Trade contained by or eBay your old RAM. In the long run I reflect on you would be ahead.
I went to 2 see on my system & all I can influence is WOW.
