How can I access my frozen disk drive beside Windows XP using a computer running on Windows 98?
We got another computer beside its own HDD and Windows 98 installed. I originally wanted to use my HDD near Windows XP, but when I attached the HDD and turned the system on, all I get was beep. Nothing showed up on the monitor.
For now, I'm using the HDD near Windows 98. I copied most of the files I wanted from my HDD next to Windows XP to a disk and copied them over to the HDD with Windows 98. It's nice to own a PC to work with, but near are certain things I'm not competent to do since the Windows version is Windows 98. I'd to some extent be using my HDD with Windows XP, but I'm not sure if that's possible in need spending more money.
Answer:
You can use the 98 HD as a slave since Winxp can read both fat32 and Ntsf. After you get adjectives of your stuff that you need from the 98 HD after format it using Winxp.
if you look on the back of the strong drive where the cable hook up you will see about 8 pins near for configuring the hard drive as a master C: or a slave drive D: you can move the pins look on the unyielding drive an it will tell you what pins to cross try setting it up as a slave drive the hook it up to you computer an see if it will boot up that channel
